Most of us love our cars and homes enough to ensure, service and look after them so that they remain in tiptop condition. But sadly when it comes to our most precious relationships such as marriage, family, friendship and sometimes our relationship with God we take them so easily for granted and don't look after them properly. Marriage week is an opportunity to take a closer look at our marriage relationships and learn to rejoice and cherish our partners. The writer of proverbs tells us “Let your wife (husband) be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife (husband) of your youth”. God never ordained marriage to be a chore, it was meant to be the foundation of human society and the foundation of family life. Where the bonds of marriage are respected, society is strong. During this years marriage week, we’ll provide reading materials for couples, facilitate a biblical reading plan for the week, take the opportunity to pray for marriages and have a couples event organised for Monday 12th February at the elim centre. We’ll also be encouraging couples to do something together and take the opportunity to nurture love for one another. C.S. Lewis said “When I have learnt to love God better than my earthly dearest, I shall love my earthly dearest better than I do now.” Our desire is that God will remain central to our marriage relationships and couples in our church community will continue to flourish.
